Credit transfers from the National Qualifications Framework

Students who have completed the following unit standards or achievement standards at the appropriate level may be credited with the equivalent NZIM Certificate in Management or Certificate in Small Business Management course.

Providers wishing to use other combinations of NQF units must seek prior approval from NZIM.

Please note that NZQA does not permit credit transfers INTO unit standards.

806 APPLIED ECONOMICS

To meet the outcomes of the paper students must have completed achievement or unit standards in the following FOUR areas (one from each 'pair'):

AS 90794 Economics  2.1  4 credits: Describe inflation and its causes and effects using economic models  OR
US5861  Economics   6 credits: Describe and measure inflation,its causes and effects, and the impact of a policy to reduce inflation.

AS 90795 Economics  2.2 4 credits: Describe international trade and its causes and effects using economic models  OR
US5862  Economics  L2  6 credits: Use measures of economic growth,explain changes in growth and the impact of growth policies.

AS 90629 Economics  3.1   5 credits: Understand marginal analysis and the behaviour of firms  OR
US 5863  Economics  L3  5 credits: Investigate and compare the behaviour of firms under different market structures.

AS 90630 Economics  3.2   4 credits: Describe an economic problem, allocative efficiency, and market responses to change  OR
US 5864  Economics  L3  5 credits: Explain and apply the concepts of marginal utility and elasticity.

One of the following may also be used with agreement of NZIM:

US 10932 Economics L2  4 credits: Research and analyse views on a current economic issue  OR 
US 10928 Economics  L3 4 credits: Present an economic argument in an essay and another mode

US 10930 Economics L2  6 credits: Carry out an economic investigation with guidance  OR
US 10931 Economics L3  6 credits: Carry out an economic investigation with consultation 

 

808 INTRODUCTION TO ACCOUNTING

A minimum of 10 credits from the following Level 2 or 3 achievement standards:

AS90220 Accounting 2.1  3 credits: Describe the conceptual basis of accounting for a sole proprietor  OR

AS90500 Accounting 3.1  4 credits: Describe and apply the conceptual basis of accounting in context


AS90223 Accounting 2.4  5 credits: Demonstrate understanding of accounting processes for accounting sub-systems 


AS90224 Accounting 2.5  5 credits: Prepare financial statements and related accounting entries for sole proprietors  OR

AS90503 Accounting 3.4   6 credits: Prepare financial statements for partnerships and companies


AS90504 Accounting 3.5  5 credits: Prepare a report that analyses and interprets a companys financial report for external users 


AS90225 Accounting 2.6  4 credits: Analyse and interpret information and make recommendations for a sole proprietor  OR

AS90505 Accounting 3.6  3 credits: Explain and prepare information for management decision making

AS90226 Accounting 2.7  3 credits: Use computer software to process financial transactions for a sole proprietor

 

811 INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTING

No current achievement standards meet the outcomes of this paper.

To meet the outcomes of the paper students need to have completed ALL the following Level 3 unit standards:

US2783 3 credits: Demonstrate knowledge of the components of a personal computing system

US2785 5 credits: Create a computer spreadsheet to provide a solution for organisational use

US2787 5 credits: Produce a computer flat file database to provide solutions for organisational use

US2789 5 credits: Produce desktop published documents for organisational use

US20332 5 credits: Apply Internet knowledge and skills in an organisational context

OR

National Certificate in Computing Level 3 or Level 4

OR

A pass in the International Computer Driving Licence™ (ICDL)

851 PRINCIPLES OF SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

To meet the outcomes of the paper students need to have completed BOTH the following unit standards:

US1989 5 credits: Research small business opportunities

US1990 5 credits: Assess small business ownership options and business structures


852 ESTABLISHING A SMALL BUSINESS

853 OPERATING A SMALL BUSINESS

Students who have completed the four unit standards below may apply to be credited with the above two papers.

US19024 Level 5 7 credits: Apply marketing concepts within a small business

US1991 Level 5 5 credits: Produce establishment plans for small business ventures

US1993 Level 6 5 credits: Manage small business operations

US1992 Level 4 5 credits: Control and evaluate small business operations

 

Credit transfers from Young Enterprise Trust programmes

Students are also able to obtain credits into NZIM Certificate in Management papers from the successful completion of the Young enterprise Trust (formerly Enterprise New Zealand Trust) programmes as follows:

· Pathways to Financial Literacy programme credits to 807 Introduction to Financial Services

· Young Enterprise Scheme credits to 836 Enterprise Research Project

 

Credit transfer to other courses

Due to changes in the NZ Diploma in Business (NZDipBus), credit transfer arrangement changed in 2008, for students claiming credits for the NZDipBus (Version 2) from NZIM Certificates.

Students successfully completing the NZIM Certificate in Management (CertMgt) will be eligible to apply for 20 unspecified credits at level 4.  There will be no specified credits into the NZDipBus (Version 2) from the CertMgt.    

Students successfully completing the NZIM Certificate in Small Business Management(CSBM) will be eligible to apply for specified credit transfer for paper 435 Fundamentals of Small Business PLUS 20 unspecified credits at level 4.    

Students successfully completing the NZIM Certificate in Language, Culture and Management(CLCM) will be eligible to apply for specified credit transfer for paper 469 Academic Skills for Business Studies PLUS 20 unspecified credits at level 4.    


You may obtain a maximum of two papers by way of credit transfer.

Recognition of current competence

You can apply for credit into any paper through recognition of current competence. You need to supply evidence that you have met the assessment requirements of the paper for which you wish to gain credit. This might be through other qualifications or evidence of workplace competence.
