NZIM Qualifications

NZIM Certificate in Management

The Certificate in Management is an NZQA approved 80 credit Level 4 qualification. Students complete 8 10-credit papers out of a selection of 20 papers.

The NZIM Certificate in Management is the major foundation management course in New Zealand and is currently provided through around 40 tertiary institutions and 70 secondary schools.  It also forms the basis for management training in many companies. Papers for the Certificate are included as part of the NZIM Certificate in Small Business Management and Certificate in Language, Culture and Management, as well as components of other qualifications, including foundation studies and trades qualifications. Around 13,000 papers are completed each year.

Secondary students may credit all papers from the Certificate into NCEA Level 2 or Level 3.  NCEA courses in accounting, economics and computing may credit into Certificate papers.  The Enterprise New Zealand Trust Young Enterprise Scheme and Financial Literacy programmes can also be credited.  The courses may be used to gain University Entrance through ad eundem admission.

Secondary students may complete the qualification through most polytechnics and many other tertiary providers.  Some students may be eligible for a Cadetship which gives a year's full-time employment as well as time off to complete the qualification.

Certificate graduates may obtain credit into the NZ Diploma in Business and the NZIM Diploma in Management, as well as other qualifications.
