The NZIM Management Model integrates local and international management best practice. The model gradually evolves as new research becomes available. The NZIM Management Model defines four key attributes of Management:

The model was sourced from the research of a wide range of international leaders in management thinking including, Jim Collins, independent researcher and author “Good to Great”, John Kotter, Konosuke Matsushita Professor of Leadership at Harvard Business School & David Ulrich, Professor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan. Self Assessment Assessment FormNZIM's aim is to help build management capability in New Zealand. This involves identifying world class management practice and helping mangers to identify personal development goals that helps build their ongoing capability. To assist you identify your own target areas we have developed a Self Assessment Form. The assessment is based on the preceding four key attributes of the NZIM Management Model. Where to from here! Our Management Competency Model identifies the essential learning goals for building management capability. It helps managers identify their development needs and is also linked closely to NZIM’s own learning programmes through the NZIM Development Framework.
